The Vilnius City Municipality Launches a Three‑Year Project to Enhance the Inclusion of Residents of Foreign Origin

Beginning in early 2026, the Vilnius City Municipality will commence the implementation of a three‑year project aimed at strengthening the integration of non‑EU nationals into the social, cultural, and civic life of Vilnius. The project is financed by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the State Budget of the Republic of Lithuania.

The project’s target group consists of non‑EU citizens and stateless persons who hold a residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania and have declared their place of residence in Vilnius.

The project aims to reinforce the integration of third‑country nationals at psychological, social, cultural, and linguistic levels, while also fostering favourable attitudes within the local community. Particular attention is directed towards individuals arriving from countries affected by war or governed by authoritarian regimes, who may experience additional psychological burdens, emotional trauma, or a lack of trust in public institutions.

Throughout the implementation of the project, mental health and psychological support services will be provided; sociocultural orientation trainings will be delivered; and information, counselling, and mediation services will be offered. The project will also focus on enhancing legal, financial, and cybersecurity literacy, promoting volunteering and mentoring initiatives, and shaping a positive public perception of third‑country nationals.

The total value of the project amounts to EUR 3,427,657.44, of which EUR 2,570,743.08 (75%) constitutes funding from the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and EUR 856,914.36 (25%) is allocated from the State Budget of the Republic of Lithuania.

The project is implemented by the Vilnius City Municipality in cooperation with the following partners: International House Vilnius, Vytautas Magnus University, and the Vilnius City Mental Health Center.
